We had our first project officially completed

We completed and enclosed our first project. It is a health center that does medical services including delivering babies. This is a picture of the closing ceremony they organized. We opened and closed with prayer. We sang hymns and the speakers expressed their thanks to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints charities for the improvements.  Since Cheryl and I are the only members of the charity they will ever see we receive all the thanks. We feel humbled and uncomfortable in that position.

Some of the things we did for them were repairing their benches for the waiting areas.

We put in an all new electrical system and all new light fixtures. We installed a new roof and new ceiling panels. And we painted the interior and exterior of the building. The roof leaks so bad that it used to get the mothers in delivery wet during a rainstorm.

We installed new toilets and sinks inside of the several restrooms.

We refurbish the drainage system so that water would not accumulate around the building.

We replace the stairs at the front and rear of the building with handicap ramps. It's interesting that the Rams in this country are sloped a lot more than the ramps in america.

We installed new fans all over the place.

This was a project that was started by our predecessors. Our job was just to see it to completion. We don't do projects like this anymore. Even though there's a need to repair these clinics we are now concentrating on larger projects that will benefit a greater number of people. We are currently working on providing medical equipment to three of the largest hospitals in the country.

The country of Liberia was originally started by freed United States slaves back as far as 1820. Because of that there are very many things here similar to America. The Liberian flag is on the left and the American flag is on the right. These flags are in the conference room at the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Monrovia (named after president James Monroe)

This is the new maternity operating room that we're constructing at the JFK Medical Center. Currently when mothers in labor have distress they have to wheel them into a distant operating room which not only takes time but the operating room may be busy. This one will be dedicated specifically to the maternity area and is located in a corner of the delivery room. He will even have its own air conditioner as you can see in the upper left hand corner of the picture.
