We made it back

We finished.  The mission was a little hard and a little uncomfortable and perfect.  We had a part in making a lot of people's lives better. We were sustained, comforted, directed and inspired by the Lord. We accomplished so much by relying upon him.

We traveled most of the way home with elders Cocoa and Frisbe.  Frisbe was going home to Idaho and Coco to Hawaii.  The plane ride was challenging. We were traveling over two nights and a total of 30 hours. Did not sleep at all.

This is Alfred Greer and his family. He was one of the contractors that we used. He came by our house before we left and gave us some gifts. All of our contractors were so gracious. Most called us multiple times to say goodbye and many gave us gifts. We will miss them all.

We arrived in Sacramento late enough that we stayed at an airport hotel. The next morning Teresa came and picked us up and took us home. We spent the next week moving our belongings back in the house from our shed. On Sunday Greg and Jenna invited us over for dinner which included a welcome home cake.

The entire time we were in Africa I was ill for only a couple days and Cheryl was not ill at all. We took malaria pills every day. We filtered all of our water. We never had any problems with crime. We never felt that we were in danger. We were blessed.

It was crazy hot every day. The temperature was almost constant in day and night. Usually in the mid 80s with almost 100% humidity.  It was never comfortable to be outside.

We were nourished and strengthened by the Lord. The mission was challenging enough that it invited us to rely on the savior. He comforted us, directed us and  greatly blessed the work. We accomplished much more than we anticipate. We helped many more people than we anticipated. We were blessed to be there. The mission was challenging enough that we are glad that we're home. We are glad we did it
